The Artist
Profile of Patricia BeBeau artist life history resume.
I have been an artist all my life as far back to three years old as I remember it. I am what today is called a Self-taught Visual artist, one born with gifted artistic skills and little traditional art education. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, namely San Bruno, California. My birth date is April 9, 1943. I raised a family of five children in San Jose, California. Art was my love and I had a wonderful high school art teacher mentor. Before the family I went to a fine arts college in the East Bay but did not graduate. I choose marriage and during the childrearing years I kept my talents alive with crafts and projects for schools and churches. Periodically I went back to college for art classes and in 1995 I quit my office manager position in social services to become a full time artist.
In 1997 I moved to Florida's Gulf Coast and then in 1998 to Flagler Beach, my home on the Atlantic Coast of Florida where I established myself. In 2004 Florida suffered four devastating hurricanes that drove me back to the home of my youth, San Bruno, Ca to my mother's house for regrouping. I work in a small studio room when I am there. While there in San Bruno I acquired my own websites and have continually produced art works for exhibits and for sale. My online art gallery is ladybytheseastudio.com the same name as my studio, The Lady By the Sea.
It has always been my intention to work with youth and to illustrate Universal Truths in unique ways. My metaphysical pieces often come with commentaries that I write to inspire and share with viewers of my art. I have commissioned pieces to my credit. I enjoy all the fine art cultures and people of cultures as they fascinate me with their particular love of doing things. I write on issues of the day and commentaries for parenting as well as for living life with enlightenment, humor and joy. I post these on my website googlephantrus.com. I intend to lecture on these very same topics in near future.
Press Release for Agora Gallery 2013 Exhibit
Patricia BeBeau’s acrylic on canvas paintings probe matters relating to the celestial, surreal and ethereal realms. A visionary artist, BeBeau is interested in the topic of the trinity of mind, body and soul, making paintings in an effort to “illuminate universal truths” and bring the viewer to an awareness of issues surrounding their participation “in the world community.” She hopes not only to visualize but to communicate in writing 'a profound thought' by helping viewers make a clear transition from the visual to the concepts they reflect. Her vibrant, eclectic and boldly rendered landscapes and abstractions express the interconnectivity of our contemporary socio-cultural global milieu through the fluid and expressive logic of paint on canvas. Foliage, dreamscapes, night skies and everyday items float within a brightly colored, vaguely familiar, hybrid and oblique plane. Determined to infuse her process with the integrity of her expansive and holistic creative vision, BeBeau’s works are spasmodic yet smooth, rhythmic and meditative. They are at once humorously seductive and brimming with explosive metaphysical potential. A self-taught artist, California-based artist Patricia BeBeau has been creating art since the age of five. She belongs to the Burlingame Art Society of Burlingame, CA, has exhibited professionally and has received juried awards in California and Florida.
As of 2014 I now live permanately in Flagler Beach, Florida in a lovely cottage by the sea with my own studio. A dream come true.
